Halloween is just around the corner and candy is stocked up in all the stores. But have you ever stopped to consider exactly what’s inside your favorite candies? Here are a list of ingredients that could be lurking inside your favorite Halloween candies:
That being said, it’s not a crime to eat candy on Halloween since it is a festive sweet treat kind of day! However, I’ve always believed that by equipping yourself with more knowledge, you can make better, healthier choices! And there is such a thing as choosing “healthier” options of candy (and no, I’m not talking about fruits and vegetables, although that would be great!), but you can choose healthier candies to consume. Here’s a helpful infographic to show calories, saturated fat, and sugar levels in popular Halloween candies: As a general rule of thumb, try not to eat candies made of pure sugar. Skittles and gummies come to mind since these are pure sugar bombs- limit these kind of candies to prevent a huge sugar rush to your system. Dark chocolates with nuts or coconut are still slightly better than candies made of just sugar.
